Who am I?

Hello. My name is Sara Large. I am a student at The University of South Alabama. My major is elementary education and plan to begin teaching in 2010. I have one daughter. Her name is Caroline Elisabeth and between her and her father Nick I have everything I need to make me happy. I love to spend time with my family as well as playing soccer and being involved in my community. My life is very busy, but I couldn't picture my life any differently than it is. Thanks for viewing my blog and please come back and see me!

Parent Involvement

In my classroom I will encourage parent involvement. I feel ever parent should be kept up to date with how their child is doing. Each week I will make sure a folder is sent home. The grades recently received will be placed in the folder. There will be two copies. One will be for the parent to keep and to be signed and returned to me. As a mother I would want the same done for my daughter.

Blogging in the classroom?

What a great way to keep the parents up to date on activities the class is doing daily! I was introduced to blogging at The University of South Alabama in my EDM 310 class by Dr. Strange. Blogs can easily be made through Google. At the beginning of each school year a new blob can be created for each class. On this blog I could post lesson plans, my contact e-mail address, and fun stuff going on in our classroom. The uses of blogging could be endless when given the right amount of time! I will encourage others to use the great tool as well!

Technology in the Classroom?

I remember when I was in elementary school. We didn’t have many computers around. We had a computer lab, but it was nothing like the ones around now! It is amazing how time has changed so fast. To better prepare my students for the future ahead I will make sure I get them familiar with technology. I have found a wonderful website that can help you incorporate technology into your classroom. http://www.4teachers.org/, is a great resource to teachers! The future doctors, lawyers, college professors, and even restaurant managers could very will be in my elementary class. All of these occupations get great assistance from technology and the internet. What better way to prepare the future generation then through technology!

Why Elementary Education?

Since I was five years old, in 1992, I have gone to school. Growing up, my mother raised me to appreciate my education and strive to be the best I can. To this day I still am in school. Currently I attend The University of South Alabama and I am pursuing an elementary education degree. As of right now my plan is to begin teaching in 2010. One question you may ask is why did I choose elementary education? I choose elementary education because when you give someone money, they can spend it all. When you give someone fame, someone can take it away. When you give someone the gift of knowledge, they can not spend it nor can any one can take it away. So by teaching elementary education, I will be giving children a gift that no one could ever take away.
